Murray Garrard
Co-FounderMurray is a journalist, editor, and communications strategist with more than twenty years of experience spanning journalism, non-profit communications, and government public affairs.
He has held senior editorial and communications roles at UNICEF, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and UNOPS, leading editorial strategy, flagship publications, donor communications, and digital content for some of the world's most complex humanitarian and development programmes. At the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, he served as Head of Press and Public Affairs for the UK's Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva, managing public diplomacy across human rights, trade, health, and humanitarian affairs at the UNHRC, WTO, and WHO. He has also served as Head of Communications for the CDAC Network, the global humanitarian communications alliance, and as Senior Communications Officer at the CHS Alliance.
Earlier in his career, Murray was group editor and co-publisher of Ink's Southeast Asian inflight magazine portfolio, editor of Travel+Leisure Southeast Asia, and editor of Time Out Bahrain.
Murray holds master’s degrees in journalism, creative writing, and development management.
Co-FounderJoe Powell
Joe is a creative director and brand strategist with more than twenty-five years of experience building brands, leading publications, and directing integrated communications across the humanitarian, corporate, healthcare, and consumer sectors.
He has led flagship publications and brand systems for some of the world's most prominent mission-driven organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), CDAC Network, CHS Alliance, InterAction, UNICEF, and UNOPS, developing visual frameworks grounded in accessibility, clarity, and multi-stakeholder alignment. At Duke University Medical Center, he served as Art Director, co-developing a systemwide identity program across clinical, academic, and administrative units. At Crain Communications in New York, he founded and led a centralized graphics department supporting five major national publications.
Joe’s expertise spans brand architecture, publication design, visual identity systems, content strategy, and creative direction, with a particular strength in translating complex organizational requirements into clear, compelling, and enduring visual communications.
He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Western Carolina University.
